I had the pleasure of being Christopher’s mom for almost 19 years. He recently passed in August 2018 from sudden unexplained death from epilepsy (SUDEP). In addition to a rare form of epilepsy (myclonic astatic epilepsy), Christopher also endured cognitive and behavioral disabilities. His short life shaped me as a young mother. I want to share his memory, my grief, and my joy in a year of journaling with the hope of healing, helping others in grief, and bringing awareness to epilepsy.
I dedicate this blog to the kinship I have felt during his life, his passing and after from my community of family, friends, and helpers. I will always be in debt.
